This is the promo for a verité documentary directed by the acclaimed Ryan White for Epix, following Serena Williams through her bid for the calendar Grand Slam. For its Wimbledon chapter, Teller’s Stu McCardle spent a fortnight inside the story as it happened, filming alongside Williams and White while the tournament unfolded around them.
Verité leaves no room to stage a moment twice, so those two weeks of trust became the whole method: stay close, keep the camera rolling, and let the tension of a Grand Slam chase write its own scenes. The documentary belongs to Ryan White. This is Teller’s account of the fortnight spent inside it.
